This appears to be the problem:
configure:1735: ./a.out
Could not load program ./a.out:
        Dependent module libc.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.
Could not load module libc.a(shr.o).

I'm not sure what would cause that.  Can you compile a simple C program?  Check 
the LIBPATH and LIBRARY_PATH environment variables and if they are set make sure 
they contain /usr/lib.
