silence warnings in auth-pam.c

Fixes these warnings in auth-pam.c:
warning: dereferencing type-punned pointer will break strict-aliasing rules
warning: passing arg 3 of `pam_get_item' from incompatible pointer type

The type-punned pointer fix is based on a patch from SuSE's rpm.
