I was the original reporter. This issue has long since ceased to be
relevant to me, but in my original report, I was looking only for a
server-side implementation, as I was using a custom client. In my
opinion, this issue can be closed, as solving the server side will
unblock a lot of users on other clients. And it would be good, as has
been suggested previously, to separate out a discussion of the client
interface since it raises a whole different set of questions.
