That is some neat diagnostic coding you put in. Hopefully this will
help.

Still getting:

hostfile_read_key: sshkey_read /export/home/user/.ssh/known_hosts:1:
invalid format

 /export/home/user/.ssh/known_hosts:1: parse error in hostkeys file


However OpenSSH_6.0p1, OpenSSL 1.0.2t can read the known_host file that
OpenSSH_9.4p1, OpenSSL 3.1.2 creates.
