            Bug ID: 3916
Summary: Help diagnosing key-related "error in libcrypto"
           Product: Portable OpenSSH
           Version: 9.6p1
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P5
         Component: ssh
          Assignee: unassigned-bugs at mindrot.org
          Reporter: u20230201 at gmail.com

While copying and renaming a key pair I had swapped public and private
key by mistake.
Unfortunately the error message of the SSH client was just like:

Load key "/home/user/.ssh/id_xyz": error in libcrypto

Being clueless I debugged the server-side also, but without success (no
problem found).
Eventually looking inside the expected private key file (the name
shown) I noticed the issue.

Couldn't be there a better error message instead of "error in
libcrypto"?
Maybe something like "expected private key, but found none", or at
least "invalid private key".
