            Bug ID: 4048
Summary: ssh-copy-id uses Dropbear auth_key path for OpenWrt
                    OpenSSH
           Product: Portable OpenSSH
           Version: 9.6p1
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P5
         Component: ssh-copy-id
          Assignee: unassigned-bugs at mindrot.org
          Reporter: filip.asplund at gmail.com

Trying to copy id to the root user on an OpenWrt system running
openssh-server fails because the key is written to dropbear's
authorized_keys file instead of ~/.ssh/authorized_keys.

The commit "Special case OpenWrt instead of Dropbear."
https://github.com/openssh/openssh-portable/commit/bdcaf7939029433635d63aade8f9ac762aca2bbe

introduced a hardcoded AUTH_KEY_FILE path for OpenWrt systems, based
purely on the existence of /etc/openwrt_release and removed the
REMOTE_VERSION check.

Openssh-server uses the "normal" ~/.ssh/authorized_keys, while dropbear
on OpenWrt uses /etc/dropbear/authorized_keys

This issue was predicted on github PR#250
https://github.com/openssh/openssh-portable/pull/250#issuecomment-1543273009

I'm just here to confirm that ssh-copy-id does not work in this case.
