ssh-keygen -l not recognizing dsa key file

machine:user:~/.ssh> ssh-keygen -l -f identity.pub
1024 91:b1:d2:81:23:85:ee:82:46:af:01:37:89:53:79:46 user at machine
machine:user:~/.ssh> ssh-keygen -l -f id_dsa.pub
id_dsa.pub is not a valid key file.                                           

Is there any way to get the same info from the dsa key?
