more rpm problems...

i know this isn't probably the best place, but i'm getting
very desparate to get at least one server up and running with
openssh-2.3 here. i have an old redhat-5.2 machine that i
was trying to recompile the 2.3 src rpm on, and after fighting
for hours to get the various -devel rpms that it required, i
have a problem now where the openssh rpm isn't using the older
gnome include directories, which seem to have been in
/opt/gnome/include in the 1.0.xx days.

is there any way to:
 a) tell the rpm --rebuild to not build the gnome stuff
 b) pass extra include directories to the rpm --rebuild process
 c) anything else that can magically get this to work???!!!

any help would be very, very much appreciated at this point...
