I think you missed my point.

Does sh use this flag?

Does cat?

Does emacs?

Does awk?

Does all that legacy software?

Vendors who support this have made a monstrous effort.  Their open system
call is broken.  When this flag is not set, software behaves different.

Those vendors have completely failed to use their heads.

You are apologizing for an incredibly bad decision.

I am not saying that ssh code now doesn't need to use this absolute
BULLSHIT.

I am saying that you guys who can influence Linux development have
stood on the wayside and permitted complete bullshit.
