Ummm.
gd at hilb0:/gnulocal/src/openssh_cvs> ./ssh -v -1 hilb1
OpenSSH_3.1p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090581f
I'm not sure where it found that one, I was sure I had 0.9.6c installed
as the system default. Bah.
Ah. Forgot "make install" in the openssl directory :-(
Re-built, using OpenSSL 0.9.6c now (really!), and now it works:
debug1: Encryption type: blowfish
debug1: Sent encrypted session key.
debug1: Installing crc compensation attack detector.
debug1: Received encrypted confirmation.
debug1: Trying rhosts or /etc/hosts.equiv with RSA host authentication.
debug1: Remote: Accepted for ... by /etc/hosts.equiv.
debug1: Received RSA challenge for host key from server.
debug1: Sending response to host key RSA challenge.
thanks, and sorry.
