zlib missing when installing openssh-3.7.1p2

Thanks for responding, but it still failed. I did as you suggested and
sent a request to 'hostmaster at mindrot.org'. I appreciate your efforts.
If you can think of anything else for me to try, please let me know.

Try using --with-zlib=/path/to/zlib (eg /usr/local if that's where you
installed zlib).
