OpenSSL is what OpenSSH uses for its crypto functions
(libcrypto.[a|so|sl]). It's required to build OpenSSH, so if you didn't
install it yourself you probably have it as a system library.
It looks like you may be having some kind of crypto problem, and verifying
OpenSSL's functionality on your taget platform would be useful in tracking
down your problem.
BTW, what OS and compiler are you using on your PPC system? (I don't
think you specified earlier, but I might have missed it.)
