remote command word splitting

If I remember right, stunts like this were _much_ more stable:

cat bigscript.sh | ssh user at host /bin/sh

(Warning:  If you do this on cygwin, you must dos2unix bigscript.sh, or 
it'll fail quite spectacularly.)
