ssh hang problem under solaris 8

It appears that the problem is related to the PAM keyboard-interactive 
authentication method.  Try disabling it 
("ChallengeResponseAuthentication no" in sshd_config).

I'm still not sure what the underlying cause is, though.  Are you using 
PAM and if so which modules?
