OpenSSH 4.0p1 ignoring password authentication

Does "ssh -o PreferredAthentications=password yourserver" work?

As a long shot, try creating a /var/empty/lib directory (ie a "lib" dir 
in wherever you have sshd's privsep chroot configured) and see if that 
makes a difference.
