Disconnecting: Bad packet length

Hi again,

Sorry for answering my own mail. Just for the record, I've now downloaded 
and compiled zlib-1.2.3 and  build openssh with the following options

./configure --prefix=/opt/openssh-4.3p2 --with-ssl-dir=/opt/openssl-0.9.8a 
--with-zlib=/opt/zlib-1.2.3

Unfortunately this didn't help. I still get "Disconnecting: Bad packet 
length" before the password prompt is shown.
