I usually use it to either disable the ControlMaster temporarily or to
reduce the strictness of some of the tests (StrictHostKeyChecking).
It isn't critical for ssh-copy-id.

In any case I think your version had more features so there isn't any
reason to use this version.   I had just written before becoming aware
of the origin of s-c-i.
