It seems to be crashing on a valid, but unexpected extension message, do
you know what identification tera type sends in its ssh banner?

You can find out by connecting to sshd running in debug mode or
by connecting to a listening netcat. E.g.

nc -l 2222

and connect to your host on port 2222.
