Wish List - test for directory argument before asking for password

Hi,
I noticed that I had to type in my password first then I was told my argument was invalid (forgot to use -r)
Then I had to type my password in again which wasted my time (unless you call it practice).
Would it be much trouble to adjust the workflow to test the arguments and then ask for the password?
