Hi again everyone.
TL;DR: x11-ssh-askpass has a new canonical upstream location at
https://github.com/openssh/x11-ssh-askpass.

With Jim's permission, I have reconstructed a git repo from his released
tarballs (using chatgpt to create "git am" importable patch sets, which
worked surprisingly well) and (with Damien's permission) have adopted it
into the OpenSSH github org.
I have created tagged releases and added Jim's original tarballs as release
artifacts, so vendors can fetch ones matching the checksums they expect.
I've also compared the github-generated source tarballs for each release
with the original ones and while they're not bit-identical due to
compression differences, they unpack into identical directories.
You can check it out (literally) at
https://github.com/openssh/x11-ssh-askpass.
Vendors carrying local patches for bug fixes are invited to submit them as
PRs, and if there is sufficient interest we may do a (final?) bugfix
release. At this time we do not intend to add any additional features and
consider this very much in "maintenance mode".
If you have any additional questions please let me know.
Thanks.
