Circa 2002-09-27 10:00:03 -0500 dixit Ladner, Eric (Eric.Ladner):

: Is there a way to change the default no-argument behavior of ssh-add from
: adding $HOME/.ssh/identity to another type?

In openssh-3.4p1 (which has been available since June of this year),
ssh-add(1) says:

[...] When run without arguments, it adds the files
     $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa, $HOME/.ssh/id_dsa and $HOME/.ssh/identity.

What version are you using?
