SRP secure remote password authentication

SRP is, if anything, the protocol with the *least* problematic patent 
license:

   http://www.ietf.org/ietf/IPR/WU-SRP

since royalty-free terms are offered.  If that isn't good enough for 
OpenSSH, then neither is DSA.
