Since the bug has not been closed as invalid or similar dismissive
status I would assume that there is a chance for patches to be
incorporated. I don't know how or if you can help make it happen
sooner rather than later somehow, but sending an email once a week is
annoying at best and directly counterproductive at worst.

Maybe you could provide more data. Testing, numbers on the
optimizations, anything useful..
