My guess is that running it with a world-writeable parent directory
(/tmp) is falling foul of one of the permission checks. Can you try it
in another directory?
as an aside: I know debugging test failures is a pain. I'm planning
some logging changes that should make it a lot easier in most cases,
however it needs some changes to ssh and sshd and it's too close to
release for those right now.
